The most important collection of phonographic supports produced in Sardinia and/or by Sardinian artists, consisting of phonographic, book and journalistic material. The collection of phonographic material, with engravings dating back to the early 1900s, consists of more than 6,000 supports arranged in 3,500 cards that allow in-depth research to be carried out on what happened musically in Sardinia in the twentieth century. The archive offers its services thanks to voluntary donations made by citizens, and to the contributions of institutions. It is also possible to join the association that manages it, obtaining a regular card.
Why it's important to visit it
The heart of the archive is traditional music expressed through the genres of guitar singing, poetic competition, tenor singing, Campidanese singing, Launeddas, tasgja, cuncordu singing, instrumental songs and dances. But there is also room for the sounds that accompanied the washerwomen to the river.
